Adventure does not have to mean hiking Kilimanjaro or cycling around the world. Adventure is a state of mind that you can take with you, even if it’s to the park 3 blocks from your home. If you have an open mind and a curious spirit, then you can find adventure anywhere. Here’s how.
1. Visit our national tourism or conservation websites
Whether it’s city life, wildlife, culture, breathtaking scenery or sun-soaked coasts, there is much to be discovered and explored in South Africa. Visit any of these websites for great ideas on where to go and what to do.
2. Grab your map and go
Spontaneity is a great way to change things up. Close your eyes and place your finger somewhere on your local map to determine your next weekend getaway or day trip destination. Take the route less travelled and connect with the locals on your way to make memories that last a lifetime.
3. Try a new outdoor activity
You might just discover a new passion and friends in doing so.
4. Hop on Instagram
See some of our favourite outdoor appreciators here for an endless stream of adventure inspiration. Note the locations they tag and the hashtags they use when posting to plan your next outing.
5. Set a goal
Give yourself something to look forward to by setting a time for adventures. It can be one weekend getaway per month or one hour per week to do something outside. It doesn’t have to be a new activity each time, just something to give you a break from your everyday routine.
